George Robertson and Deborah Register were married June 1, 1809 (probably in Greene County). George Robertson died Oct. 17, 1876 and is buried in Bethesda Presbyterian Cemetery at Cedar Lane in Greene County, TN. Deborah Register Robertson died March 22, 1871. She was a sister of Francis Registr, who was a capatain in the War of 1812. Francis Register is buried at the English Graveyard, Greene County, two miles below Jeraldstown, Greene County, TN.
George Robertson served as a private in Capt. Francis Register’s Company, Col. Samuel Bunch’s Regiment, East Tennessee Militia, 10 Jan 1814 – 21 July 1814 (War Dept. & Tennessee State Archives, Nashville, TN). According to a statement made in 1935 by a grandson, J.R. Smith of Jeraldstown, George Robertson had two brothers – John Robertson and Joseph Robertson – and a “boy” named Sam Mathany was discharged the same time that Joseph Robertson and George Robertson, and all came home together,” . . . also suggests that “when you go to Washington, to look up all the names in Capt. Francis Register’s Company . . . the greater part of them were made up in Greene and Washington counties . . . Francis Register was my grandmother, Deborah Robertson’s, brother.” (From the files of the late Mary H. McCown).
