On this Thanksgiving Day, I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving from the Jonesborough Genealogical Society. As you begin your plans for the much busy holiday season with days such as Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Sofa Sunday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday, we hope you will keep us in mind. As a member of the Jonesborough Area Merchants and Services Association, the JGS would like to remind you to shop Small Business Saturday, November 28th, in the town of Jonesborough, many of our area merchants will have their shops open, as well as Main Street Jonesborough. Below is a press release.Make Main Street Jonesborough your destination for Christmas shopping!Support small businesses by shopping local November 27-29 in downtown Jonesborough and enjoy extended shopping hours.Get to downtown Jonesborough early on Small Business Saturday and visit the Shop Small welcome tent to pick up some swag and a Shop Small Bingo card. You can also pick up your Shop Small Bingo card early on Friday evening, November 27th, during Downtown at Dusk. When you make a purchase at a downtown business the cashier will stamp the square on your Shop Small Bingo card that lists their shop name. Return your bingo card before December 14 once you get 5 in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal and you’ll be entered to win a bundle of JAMSA coins. JAMSA coins can be used as a gift certificate at most downtown shops. To kick-off the holiday season there will be a very limited number of gingerbread house kits available for those who wish to take part in Jonesborough’s Gingerbread Village contest. The Gingerbread Village will be a walkable display in downtown shop windows from December 4th through the 20th. Meet at the Shop Small tent beside the courthouse to pick yours up during Small Business Saturday on November 28th. Entries must be submitted on Monday, November 30 between 2-6pm at the International Storytelling Center in downtown Jonesborough. The Shop Small tent will be set up on Saturday, November 28th from 10am until noon.Support local by taking part in Downtown at Dusk each Friday evening in Jonesborough. The shop wine and dine event highlights small businesses. You can purchase a ticket for $20 and enjoy 10+ beverage stops and take home a keepsake stemless wineglass.Jonesborough is proud to have the streets lined with small businesses that fill their shops and boutiques with items that can be found only in Jonesborough. Here you’ll find handmade jewelry from local artisans, unique gifts, nostalgic antiques, repurposed furniture, and more.
