On Tuesday, August 20th, at 6 pm at the Washington County-Jonesborough Library, 200 Sabin Drive, the Jonesborough Genealogical Society will host its second Back 2 Basics: Back 2 The Basics: Genealogical Workshop with speaker, Jules Corriere. This series is a series of workshops related to techniques and tips to help genealogists and beginners in their genealogical endeavors. Corriere, the outreach director for the McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School in Jonesborough, will be discussing Oral History Techniques. Corriere is an expert in oral history techniques and her work with the Storytown Brigade through the McKinney Center has led to the capturing of hundreds of stories within Jonesborough, Washington County, and Northeast Tennessee. These stories have led to plays such as “I am Home,” “We were so Young”, and “The Long Trip Home.” Also, many of these stories have been featured in her monthly radio show, “A Night with the Yarn Exchange,” which is performed at the International Storytelling Center on the fourth Monday of every month, and is broadcast on NPR station 89.5 FM and streams worldwide. Please RSVP, so seats can be available. This event is free and open to the public.
